ART IN THE LOOP 2024

I created the branding for the Art in the Loop Foundation'2 2024 project, Convivencia. The final deliverables included the brand system, a website banner, a 4-page brochure, and a 16-page catalog.

 

The Art in the Loop Foundation is a partnership between the Downtown Council of Kansas City and the KC Streetcar. Each year, they invite visual and performing artists to respond to a theme, resulting in public art installations and live performances throughout the summer.

 

Convivencia refers to the space between harmony and conflict. It expresses a shared life with others that is a constant practice, effort, negotiation, and joint achievement, while recognizing friction or opposing energy. Art in the Loop recognizes that artists and creatives are very familiar with navigating space, energy, and time amongst one another and within their communities, and they wanted branding that would reflect this practice.

When thinking about convivencia, I was heavily inspired by my favorite place to play in Kansas City, the Crossroads district, which also houses part of the streetcar route. As a graphic designer, the Crossroads offers the perfect environment that keeps me connected to the rich culture of our city, with an emphasis on diversity and creativity. I thought about the types of people and scenarios that I've observed throughout downtown KC, and I wanted that feeling of shared life to come through with each component of the design.
